WANT TO TRY HOCKEY WITHOUT COMMITTING TO BUYING ALL THE EQUIPMENT? WANT TO LEARN FROM THE PROS?
The Richmond Generals Hockey League is proud to offer Hockey U, which is designed to allow participants to sample ice hockey at an affordable, entry-level investment.
Hockey U is offered year-round in 7 or 8 week program intervals. It includes special rental pricing on starter gear and professional hockey and skating instruction. It is suggested skaters have helmet, stick, gloves, shin pads, hockey pants, chest protector, and elbow pads. If you don't have all these items you can obtain everything from the Pro Shop at Richmond Ice Zone, operated by Sports Gear Inc. Players will get the best results if they are able to skate forward, backward, and stop when entering the session.
Fitting for rental equipment will be done by Sports Gear (at the Ice Zone in Chesterfield) by appointment only. Please email for an appointment: WDARNELL925@YAHOO.COM

FUTURE CAPS LEARN TO PLAY
Washington Capitals Future Caps Learn to Play program presented by World Wide Technology.
- Open to first-time hockey participants ages 5-9
- FREE head-to-toe equipment* provided to each registered player
- FREE USA Hockey Membership (1yr)
- Age appropriate on-ice instruction by certified coaching in a fun and safe atmosphere.
- Guest appearances by Capitals Alumni Ambassadors
- 8 week session on Saturdays (times vary)
- Classes held at the Powhatan Ice Den (Oct - May)
- Classes held at the Richmond Ice Zone (June - Sept)
Participants need to be able to confidently skate from one wall to the other. Register for our Basic Skating Class to get there!
